Day 2
We will start on our journey tomorrow morning. So, today we had a few errands Haley needed to take care of before leaving LA. We got up and headed out early only to get bogged down by the notoriously bad traffic in LA. We planned to make our two stops and get breakfast. But we only managed to get half way before we threw in the towel and decided to get breakfast and hope the traffic would die down while we ate. Haley knew of a nice breakfast place and coffee shop nearby. So, we pulled of the 405 and relaxed for a few minutes.
We had breakfast at Marmalade Cafe.
I had the Chocolate Macadamia Pancakes and Haley had the Oatmeal with fresh fruit.
Then we headed next door for some coffee at The Boy and the Bear. Haley had a vanilla oat milk latte and I had a macchiato.
We then made our way back onto the 405 towards Malibu Beach.
We were finally able to complete our errands and headed for home. We decided to give the car a good cleaning before our 3000+ mile drive. It was an old school car wash with attendants that did a really nice job.
Then came the fun part. Trying to figure out how to fit everything Haley and her boyfriend would need for the next 6+ months during thier travels, and stuff it into her car. This was the main purpose of the drive across country.
We were able to get everything they wanted to take with us in the car. All or our Tetris experience made it happen. After all that work we decided it was time to treat ourselves to burgers and Gelato.
First stop, The Stand, for burgers and fries. I had the blue cheese turkey burger with fries (sorry I was so hungry, I forgot to take a picture).
And then just a little further down the road we had Gelato at Anita Gelato.
Tomorrow is going to be a long day. We plan to drive over 700 miles and 11 hours of driving. We’ll hopefully make it to our first stop, Salt Lake City. We plan to make a few stops along the way and take a few pictures. The adventures begins.
